On behalf of the entire staff at Highland Elementary School, it is my privilege and honor to extend a warm welcome to your entire family for the 2015-2016 school year.  This year promises to be an exciting year filled with rewarding learning experiences for our students, staff, parents, and community partners.  Indeed, it’s going to be our best year yet!

Highland is proud to provide a positive, nurturing learning environment with a strong focus on academic EXCELLENCE.  Our educational offerings are designed to instill in all students an enduring love for lifelong learning and service to others.  Please do not hesitate to contact me with your suggestions for improving Highland Elementary, any concerns with your child’s education, and, of course, compliments for our wonderful staff.  I want to know what it is going well along with what we can do to improve, and I am ALWAYS here to serve you.

Here’s a bit of information about your principal:  I’ve been married to my husband, Jim, for 30 years, and I’m proud to be the devoted mother of a UE graduate named Tyler.  I grew up in Evansville, and I am thankful to be a product of the EVSC and a graduate of Central High School.  Go Bears!  I earned my teaching degree at USI, my administrative degrees from ISU, and I’m currently a Ph.D. candidate working on her dissertation at ISU.  I’m fortunate to be a twenty-year plus employee of EVSC who has taught just about every grade level K-8, worked as a district Literacy Coach, and recently served as principal at another EVSC school for the previous nine years.  I was awarded the Evansville Area Reading Council Celebrate Literacy Award in 2002, the Outstanding Educator Award as a teacher in 2003, and the Outstanding Administrator Award as a principal in 2011. 

I have been blessed beyond belief, and I’m extremely excited for the opportunity to work and learn with the dedicated staff at Highland Elementary.  More than anything, I look forward to working with you this year as a dedicated partner in your child’s education.  Education is my passion.
